Sexton alludes the wolf to being pregnant when "He appeared to be in his ninth month" (135). The deceitful wolf is pretending to be a pregnant female but in actuality he is concealing Red Riding Hood and her grandmother. The wolf being pregnant also insinuates that he is about to give birth to a being that is more developed. In this sense, Red Riding Hood is going to be born but she will be a different person than she was before she was consumed by the wolf.
