a plucked daisy

Page history last edited by Tonya Howe 14 years, 12 months ago

Sexton makes a comparison between Snow White’s fainting with that of “a plucked daisy” (97).  Snow White had just been laced up, tied so tight that she could not get air and she fainted.  When a flower is picked from the ground, its energy supply is cut off, the color of the leaves will start to fade and it will lose the spunkiness in its petals.  By comparing Snow White’s fainting to a “plucked daisy” (97) it gives the reader an image of Snow White on the ground, perhaps her color changing due to lack of oxygen, her body limp to conserve energy, and suggesting her cheeks were no longer quite as rosy and she was no longer as bright.  [S. Zimmerman]
