Before the mirror had claimed Snow White to be the fairest, The Queen was not the least bit threatened by her stepdaughter. She “had been no more important than a dust mouse”(39) or a dust ball. Dust balls are things that cling to our belongings that we infrequently use, often under beds or in attics. An alternate definition of dust is something that is worthless. Snow White had gone from a worthless object to a beautiful threat.

Nice; I also wonder why the dust mouse is "under the bed," and why it's, specifically, a "mouse"? Note the confusing referent--"she" in the second sentence could refer to the Queen or SW, potentially.

Nice commentary, Nzinga! Dr. Howe does have a good point regarding the presence of the ambiguous referent "she", so you might wanna provide a brief justification of why you believe the speaker refers to Snow White as opposed to the stepmother.
