Minor changes in Sexton's version of Snow White alter the overall tone of the story. Sexton alludes to the Brothers Grimm version as well as the Disney version by using the "glass coffin" (118). The significance of the coffin is the material from which it is made from. The dwarfs "could not bring themselves" (117) to use any other material other than glass. They felt Snow White's beauty was too extraordinary to not be put on display. Therefore, the dwarfs opted to use glass, thinking it would be the best choice so people could see through it and admire her beauty. Ironically, the same thing that kills Snow White is the thing that the dwarfs want to preserve and present to the world by using glass. Ultimately, Snow White’s beauty is what kills her because it is her beauty the queen is so jealous causing her repeated attempts at kill her. The dwarfs’ use of a glass coffin is as a gateway to snow white's strongest attribute--her beauty.
