Sexton's idea that the “mirror to which she referred” (24) is “something like the weather forecast” (25) suggests that the queen checks the mirror at least once everyday, possibly more. A forecast is a prediction of nature’s conditions that we might have to endure; it is a sign of preparation for the future. By relying on her mirror as much as the weather forecast, Sexton implies that not only is the queen obsessed with making sure she remains “the fairest of us all” (30), but also that once the mirror’s response is no longer in the queen’s favor, it would be the equivalent of a storm approaching, something bad in nature, which could also mean jealousy. Excellent, Sara! My only suggestion on this one is to think a bit more about the image of the "weather forecast"--there's something at once menacing about this, which you put your finger on, and very casual. Remember, the mirror is being compared to the weather forecast, too.

I definatly agree with you!! Its like she relies on the accuracy of mirror as we rely on the accuracy of the weather forcast until its like she can't live without it (dependant) which is how I feel about watching the weather every morning!
