Taking a class in the Consortium

Page history last edited by Tonya Howe 13 years, 6 months ago

How do I enroll in a class through the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area?

Eligible students from Marymount may take approved courses at member institutions.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Only undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students in good academic standing are eligible to take a course through the Consortium. Students enrolled at Marymount on a nondegree or certificate basis are not eligible.
  • You must obtain a signed Consortium registration form that includes the signatures of your advisor, the School dean, and the Consortium coordinator.
  • The course must be acceptable and approved by the visited institution.
  • The course that is being taken through the Consortium must be acceptable to Marymount, and the course must not be offered concurrently at Marymount University.
  • A maximum of 2 courses through the Consortium may be counted for credit toward Marymount degree requirements, except under limited circumstances (joint programs with other institutions or ROTC programs).
  • Consortium courses do fulfill the minimum residency requirement.
  •

Registration Procedures

  • Determine the course you wish to take. Schedules for all member institutions are available online. Submit a copy of the course schedule with the registration form.
  • Obtain a multipage Consortium Registration Form from the Registrar’s Office.
  • Obtain the signature of your academic advisor and your School dean. Return the signed Consortium Registration Form to the Registrar's Office for the signature of the Consortium Coordinator and the Consortium Seal. The buff-colored copy will be given to the student.
  • The completed Consortium Registration Form and a copy of the course listing are due to the Registrar's Office no later than one week prior to the start of the semester.
  • Show the buff-colored copy of the Consortium Registration Form and your Marymount ID card to the professor of your class. This legitimizes your enrollment at the visited institution. Keep the form for your personal records.

Withdrawal from a Consortium course must be reported at once to the Consortium coordinator in the Registrar’s Office.

All Consortium students are subject to the visited institution’s academic and social rules, regulations, and policies.
